Serene Forte, Ph.D, MPH

Senior Vice President, Head of Genetic Medicine

Serene Forte, Ph.D., MPH, is an accomplished scientific and clinical based leader with more than 20 years of direct leadership experience and a record of success blending scientific expertise and business acumen to drive business development, commercial strategy and medical affairs. Dr. Forte has extensive experience in the field of genetic medicine with direct involvement in the strategic launch development and commercialization strategy for several gene and RNA therapies. Most recently her focus has been on business development of genetic medicine assets. Her interests include rare disease, gene replacement, genetic medicines for neuromuscular and metabolic diseases, AAV technologies and gene editing. 

Dr. Forte earned a master’s degree in public health from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and a doctor of philosophy degree in virology and immunology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Mass. Dr. Forte completed her post-doctoral training and fellowship training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, holding dual appointments at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and in the department of medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Dr. Forte continued her training as a senior fellow at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the University of Washington in Seattle prior to moving into industry.
